Hospital Medicine is proud to sponsor or co-sponsor a number of research training programs. More information about each of these programs, according to career level, is below.

Undergraduate Programs

Collegiate Translational Medicine Program (CTMP)

CTMP is a yearlong research training program in clinical and translational research for UChicago undergraduates. The program begins with a 10-week, full-time summer research assistantship with the Hospitalist Project. Partway through the summer, students are paired with a research mentor who they work with on research project throughout the academic year. Learn more about CTMP here.

Cultivating Health and Aging Researchers by Integrating Science, Medicine, and Aging (CHARISMA) program

CHARISMA is a yearlong research training program in aging research that is open to undergraduates who are from groups underrepresented in the sciences. Students from any Chicago area school are eligible to apply. The program begins with a 10-week, full-time summer research assistantship with the Hospitalist Project. Partway through the summer, students are paired with a research mentor who they work with on research project throughout the academic year. Learn more about CHARISMA here.

Postdoctoral Research Programs

Hospitalist Scholars Program

The University of Chicago Hospitalist Scholars program aims to help future academic hospitalists obtain the skills and experience necessary to build successful and sustainable career. Hospitalist Scholars learn specific scholarly skills in an area of academic interest related to their career goals, including patient-centered outcomes research, quality improvement, patient safety, medical education, informatics or global health. Our program is one of the oldest hospital medicine programs in the nation with over 2 decades’ worth of experience, and we have a diverse and talented faculty capable of providing mentorship in a wide variety of disciplines.
