Provider Job Descriptions
Full and Part-Time Clinical Associates and Nocturnists
Provide direct patient care. Clinical Associates and Nocturnists have opportunities to interact with mentors and engage in scholarly activities and projects in quality improvement, clinical administration, informatics, and procedural medicine. Our flexible scheduling system allows our clinical associates to have highly customizable schedules.
Academic Physicians
Teach, provide clinical leadership, and engage in scholarly activity. The University has many opportunities for mentorship, training, and engagement in scholarship.
Comprehensive Care Physicians (CCPs)
Provide patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, reducing the needs for costly mechanisms to coordinate care and strengthening the doctor-patient relationship. The CCP model was created in the Section of Hospital Medicine at the University of Chicago.
Hospitalist Scholars
Participate in our Hospitalist Scholars Training Program, a 2-3 year fellowship where future academic hospitalists will obtain the skills and experience needed to build successful and sustainable careers in academic hospital medicine. Trainees develop skills in an area of academic interest such as outcomes research, quality improvement, patient safety, medical education, and global health.
