Medical Education Committee

The Medical Education Committee in the Section of Hospital Medicine aims to support the members of the Section of Hospital Medicine who are interested and active in medical education within the spaces of undergraduate medical education (UME), graduate medical education (GME), interprofessional education (IPE), continuing professional development (CPD) and faculty development (FD).

The Med Ed Committee, chaired by Drs. Shannon Martin & Jeanne Farnan, is composed of any member of the Section of Hospital Medicine who wishes to actively participate in education at the University. The committee, which meets at least quarterly, sets its goals and priorities for the academic year as related to the educational mission of the Section, and convenes working groups to accomplish these goals. Example of past and current projects include curriculum development for the general medicine consultation service, broadening opportunities for advance practice provider education within our Section, professional development in teaching clinical microskills such as giving feedback and setting expectations, and many more. Seasoned medical educators and institutional leaders work side by side with early career hospitalists and others who may be at earlier stages of their careers in medical education to provide guidance, mentorship and collaboration on projects and future career development.

Join us in the Medical Education Committee to see how you can contribute to the Section’s educational mission and make an impact on the lives of learners across the continuum of medical education at the University of Chicago!
