Hospitalist Scholars

Master’s Degree Programs, Tuition Support and Additional Funding

Scholars who decide to pursue a Master’s Degree at the University of Chicago must apply to the Master’s program by the application deadline. Many Scholars who apply to the Master in Public Policy and Master’s Program for Clinical Professionals offered through the Department of Health Studies, receive partial or full tuition support.

Scholars are encouraged to apply to one or more NIH-funded postdoctoral research training program(s) at the University of Chicago. The training programs described below each provide full tuition support for one or more of the masters degrees listed above:

  • TL1 Postdoctoral Program in Clinical Research, Biomedical Informatics, and Health Equity. Approved masters degrees include MSCP, MPH, and MScBMI.
  • T32 Health Services Research Training Program. Approved masters degrees include MSCP and MAPP.

These Federal training grants may require that recipients be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or non-citizen nationals, and may require payback if the individual does not engage in research-related activities after completing the program. Click here for more details. Training grants may also place limits on the extent of clinical work that can be done to supplement income during the fellowship. Successful applicants will be notified in writing as to the method of support at the time of acceptance.
